As many of you know, Randi has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 Colon Cancer.

This summer Randi noticed she was feeling unusually tired and weak.  At the end of June Randi was surprised she was too weak to complete the last 2 holes of golf and asked Austin to finish for her.  On July 10th she came to Aly's house to be there to help before and after the new baby arrived. Randi seemed to be doing great and was running a couple miles most mornings.   On July 18th she came home from a morning run saying her right side was aching and sore. After confirming with a doctor friend that it wasn't her appendix or gallbladder we decided it was most likely a pulled muscle.  On the 25th Randi went to San Clemente and had some blood work done and Randi learned she was very anemic.   A few days laster Randi returned to Aly's house for a baptism and blessing and Randi's health had deteriorated significantly.  Randy could no longer run, had developed a light cough and was out of breath going up just 10 steps.  Randi's side was still aching, and she was incredibly tired and weak.  A few days later Randi learned from the doctor that her anemia could possibly be related to colon cancer.  From there she had an ultrasound, CT Scan and then a colonoscopy.  All of which revealed Randi has a large tumor in the upper region of her colon which has metastasized to her liver and her lungs. Randi was told they mostly likely wouldn't be able to do surgery because the tumor in her colon was too large and she couldn't have the cancer in her lungs or liver removed because the cancer nodules in these areas were innumerable.

Yesterday Randi & Terry met with a doctor at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ .   He proposed a chemo plan where Randi would do 3 days of chemo and then 2 weeks off and would repeat this for 4 months.  After the 4 months they would evaluate how her body responded to the chemo and decide on the next steps.  The doctor explained Randi would always need to continue to do chemo for as long as as her body responded to it.  Randi will need to start the chemo as soon as possible.

Unfortunately Randi has developed a bacterial infection which has left her very weak, nauseous, and with difficulty eating.  Randi has been taking antibiotics for the infection but still feels very uncomfortable.  Randi's blood count was low so today she had a blood transfusion at the Mayo Clinic and they are hopeful that this will give her strength.  Randi, Terry and Jason drove back to Prescott tonight.

As we have new updates we will post them on this site.
